Celebrate! South Cambridgeshire photography competition

At stART we celebrate engagements across all artforms and we are delighted to announce our first photography competition.

We are welcoming entries from budding photographers of all ages in and around South Cambridgeshire to submit their images on the theme:

“It’s an art!”

Five winning entries will be selected and displayed at Celebrate! The South Cambridgeshire Arts Awards at Swavesey Village College on Wednesday 28th March.

 

Email one high-resolution jpeg image – not larger than 3MB – to your local Arts Development Manager .

Add your name, address and daytime contact telephone number.

 

Closing date Wednesday 14 March.

Promote your activities with the BBC

Things To Do from the BBC

Things To Do bbc.co.uk/thingstodo lets people find free and non-commercial activities by the BBC and their partners connected to BBC TV, Radio & Campaigns. Visitors to the website can simply enter a postcode and find hundreds of activities going on in their area.

They welcome partners who run on a not-for-profit basis or are a public service organisation to upload their activities and get them publicised for free. If your organisation offers exciting activities that engage children, families and individuals to participate in activities then share them with Things To Do and gain the benefits of publicity through this free BBC Knowledge & Learning website. They want to be sure that partners’ benefit from a long-term partnership with Things To Do.
 
They promote activities run by not-profit organisations across bbc.co.uk as well as getting regular promotions for our site on BBC programmes, channel sites as well as BBC Homepage which attracts over 1 million unique users a day. They have also just launched a widget on all the regional news pages which is sending plenty of traffic to the site to discover the activities on offer.

Photography competition - entries welcomed

Swavesey Camera Club are welcoming entries for their 2012 Open Competition.

The competition is open to amateur photographers who are not present members of Swavesey Camera Club with both a Junior (16 and under) and Adult class.

The categories are:

  • Within a mile of home
  • A great big close-up
  • Yellow

The competition is for monochrome or colour prints only up to a maximum size of A4. The closing date for entries is Friday 16th March.  All entries will be exhibited at the Camera Club exhibition on Saturday 24th March at Swavesey Memorial Hall. Full details are attached.

Ring the bells for London 2012

All the Bells – Ring a bell for Martin Creed in South Cambridgeshire
Register before 27 July

Take part in one of Turner Prize winner Martin Creeds biggest ever works ‘All the Bells’ by ringing a bell between 8.00am and 8.03am on the morning of Friday 27 July.  Bells of all shapes and sizes are welcome – hand bells, door bells, bicycle bells, church bells, town hall bells, sleigh bells, cow bells, school bells, last orders bells, dinner bells – where there is a bell, Martin Creed would like someone to ring it!  For more information and to register to ring a bell, please visit www.allthebells.com.

Half Term Drama for years 5,6 & 7 at Comberton

Half term drama activities for Year Sevens with stART Arts The stART Art’s creative team are offering a play-in-a-week programme at Comberton Leisure during February half term aimed at budding young actors. Year seven children from CVC are invited to join Director Ella Lyons for a series of workshops building towards a performance of ‘Pete’s Dragon’ to an audience of family and friends. The workshops will run from Monday 13TH to Thursday 16TH February (9:00am – 4:30am) and cost £50. The third annual showcase of youth dance in South Cambridgeshire featuring performances by young people aged 8 – 21 from across the district.  This year there will be two shows featuring different performances:

3pm: Junior Dancers

7.30pm: Senior Dancers

Plus guest appearances by dancers from Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
