artsMASH – creative workshops and activities for young people age 8 – 19
For 2012 we have a great programme of activities planned across the district (more courses will be added here as details are confirmed):
2 – 5 April: Impington Musical Theatre workshop based on Mary Poppins.
2 April: Swavesey Arty-tecture workshop creatively exploring the built environment
24 – 27 July: Cottenham summer school host workshop days in mask making, poetry, film and animation.
24 – 27 July: Swavesey Summer Rock School for young people aged 11 – 16 years. Culminates in the Big Summer Gig! 27 July at Swavesey Venue.

artsMASH developed from a partnership project between stART and the Cambridgeshire County Council Youth Services teams based in South Cambridgeshire. In 2010 – 11 stART worked with youth workers and young people at youth clubs across the district to organise out of school arts opportunities for young people. Artists from diverse practicies, from DJs, dancers, film-makers, painters, actors, dancers (to name just a few) led workshops in youth clubs and developed projects with the young people. Hundreds of young people took part and experienced the arts on their own doorstep. Many of these also gained qualifications through the national Arts Award scheme. Due to popular demand from the young people involved, the project has now expanded. We are now offering artsMASH activities across South Cambridgeshire in a wide variety of artforms.
